Cosmich is pleased to announce that Laura K. Sheffield has joined the firm as an associate attorney in the Jackson, Mississippi office.
Laura brings a well-rounded background in litigation and public service to the firm. Prior to joining Cosmich, she practiced at Balch & Bingham LLP, where she focused on complex litigation matters. Before entering private practice, Laura served as a law clerk to Justice Josiah D. Coleman of the Mississippi Supreme Court.
Laura earned her Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School, where she was an Article Editor for the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy, a member of the New York Bar Moot Court Team, and a Teaching Assistant to the late Professor Sherry Colb. She completed her undergraduate studies at Mississippi College, graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Political Science and a minor in History.
Throughout her academic and early professional career, Laura has gained a breadth of experience through roles with the United States Attorney’s Office, multiple state and federal judges, and in public service under Mississippi’s Secretary of State and Lieutenant Governor.
Outside the office, Laura enjoys cooking, painting, and home improvement projects.
