Jun 16, 2026

Cosmich is proud to announce that Michaela “Mickey” Yant, a first-year student at the Mississippi College School of Law, has been selected as the recipient of the firm’s 2026 Diversity in the Law Scholarship.

The scholarship was presented on April 30, 2026, during the Mississippi College School of Law Awards Ceremony by Madeline Kuluz Tincher, Chair of Cosmich’s Diversity and Inclusivity Committee.

Established in 2018, the Cosmich Diversity in the Law Scholarship reflects the firm’s commitment to promoting and supporting efforts aimed at increasing diversity within the legal profession. Through this scholarship, the firm seeks to help foster a more inclusive and representative legal community while recognizing students who demonstrate leadership, service, and a commitment to advancing the profession.

“Mickey is an incredibly deserving recipient of this scholarship,” said Tincher. “She has already distinguished herself through her leadership, professional accomplishments, and involvement within the law school community. We are honored to support her legal education and look forward to seeing the impact she will make in the profession.”

Yant recently completed her first year at Mississippi College School of Law, where she is pursuing her Juris Doctor. She served as a 1L Representative and Social Media Coordinator for the Sports & Entertainment Law Society, participates in the Black Law Students Association’s Events and Fundraising Committees, and was recognized as a 1L Opening Statement Octo-Finalist.

Before attending law school, Yant earned a Master of Science in Sport Management from Jackson State University and built an accomplished career in event management. Most recently, she served as Senior Events Manager for the Jackson Convention Complex, where she managed contracts, compliance matters, risk assessment, and stakeholder relations. Her professional experience also includes work with the Miami Dolphins organization.

During the awards ceremony, Yant was joined by her daughter and aunt, while her mother participated virtually from Florida. Faculty and advisors at Mississippi College School of Law praised Yant for her leadership, work ethic, and positive influence on those around her.

Cosmich congratulates Mickey on this well-deserved recognition and wishes her continued success as she pursues her legal education and future legal career.
