Amorya Orr, a partner in Cosmich’s Jackson office, has been appointed to serve on the Board of Commissioners of the Mississippi Bar, the governing body of the organization. Orr will represent the state at large and will begin her three-year term in July 2026.
The Board of Commissioners is composed of officers and representatives from each of Mississippi’s Circuit Court Districts and is responsible for overseeing the administration and direction of the Mississippi Bar.
Orr concentrates her practice on complex civil litigation, including toxic tort, product liability, premises liability defense, insurance coverage disputes, general contract disputes, and church litigation. She is a member of the firm’s national trial team and achieved her first multi-million-dollar plaintiff’s verdict in 2024. She has been recognized as a Mid-South Super Lawyers Rising Star and was recently named a 2025 Rising Star by the Defense Research Institute’s Asbestos Medicine Seminar.
In addition to her litigation practice, Orr has been an active mediator since 2014 and is deeply involved in bar leadership and service. She previously served as chair of the Mississippi Bar’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section and as chair of its Diversity Committee. Orr completed the Bar’s Leadership Program in 2019 and currently serves as Appellate Mediation Coordinator, working closely with both the judiciary and the Bar.
Orr earned her undergraduate degree from Fisk University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is president-elect of the Magnolia Bar Association and is a member of the Junior League of Jackson, where she most recently served as immediate past chair of the Touch A Truck Jackson® project.
Cosmich congratulates Amorya on this well-deserved appointment and applauds her continued leadership and service to the legal profession.
