Cosmich Welcomes Associate Lauren E. Smith as St. Louis Office Continues to Grow

Nov 6, 2026

Cosmich welcomes Lauren E. Smith as an associate in its St. Louis office, continuing the firm’s investment in its team and capabilities in the region.

Lauren’s arrival follows the recent addition of Partner Mandy Williams, bringing the St. Louis office to three attorneys. Both join Partner Jerry Warchol, who has been with Cosmich for eight years. The office has also welcomed paralegals Miranda Leon Guerrero and Sharon Diesselhorst, further expanding the team by supporting its litigation practice.

Lauren represents clients in toxic tort and product liability matters, with experience involving cosmetic and talcum powders, aircraft manufacturers, premises owners, and government contractors. She handles matters through all stages of litigation, including fact investigation, depositions, motion practice, and negotiations involving individual and group settlements.

Before joining Cosmich, Lauren practiced at a national litigation firm focused on toxic tort defense and served as in-house counsel for a healthcare company. Her in-house experience encompassed health plan regulatory matters, intellectual property, corporate governance, and professional licensure.

Beyond her practice, Lauren is active in professional leadership, legal education, and pro bono service. She serves as vice chair of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis’s Young Lawyers Division and holds leadership roles with The Missouri Bar and the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s alumni community. She also teaches at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s School of Business.

Lauren’s commitment to expanding access to justice includes pro bono representation through Land of Lincoln Legal Aid in sealing, expungement, and guardianship matters. She received the organization’s Bartylak Pro Bono Award in 2026.

Lauren earned her Juris Doctor and Master of Health Administration degrees from the University of Missouri in 2020 and her bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology in 2017. She is admitted to practice in Missouri and Illinois.

The additions of Lauren, Mandy, Miranda, and Sharon reflect the continued growth of Cosmich’s St. Louis office and strengthen its capacity to serve clients in complex litigation matters.
