Since its formation 18-years ago, Cosmich Simmons & Brown has valued diversity and inclusion, not just as a policy but as a way of doing business.
The events of the past few weeks have underscored that our work and the work of individuals and other organizations towards advancing diversity and inclusion is not done. We have all watched with deep hurt and righteous anger the senseless deaths of unarmed black and brown men and women. This week, our cities have erupted in response to racial injustice.
The local communities in which our offices are located rightfully look to all organizations to speak up and to act on their convictions and commitment to social justice and racial equality. Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is as important today as it has ever been.
We also recognize that there are many honorable law enforcement officers in our communities who have been unfairly tarnished by the unjust acts of others. We support these officers, and call for their cooperation in putting a stop to racial profiling and to disparate treatment of people of color.
We call on all law firms and individual lawyers, as well as our politicians and community leaders, to seek constructive solutions to the issues of racial inequality and social injustice. Actions must follow words and good intentions if we are to bridge the divides that separate us as a People and as a Country.
